Our Products

Our bamboo mats have been designed specifically to overcome some of the natural limitations of timber. They are lighter and absorb less moisture, reducing transportation costs. The panels in our new design maximize on the inherent flexibility of bamboo to bend on uneven ground. We use Laminated Veneer Bamboo, or LVB. Our mats are stronger, lighter, and more flexible than all other types of hardwood and laminated mats.

LVB: Green Steel

Laminated Veneer Bamboo (LVB) is a modern engineered product manufactured from rotary peeled veneers glued together to form continuous panels. Comparable in strength to concrete and steel, LVB is 10 times stronger than wood in tension and 3 times stronger mechanically. Our manufacturing process makes LVB stronger, straighter and more uniform than solid timber and overcomes some of timber’s natural limitation such as strength – reducing knots. The added durability of being an engineered wood product means our mats are less prone to shrinking or warping and can also support heavier loads and span longer distances than normal timber.

Unlike traditional Access Mats that use 30 year old trees for their decking, Turtleback Mats use Laminated Veneer Bamboo, a grass that is harvested every 3 years.

Bamboo is strong, and can handle enormous pressure per square inch.
Bamboo has a tensile strength of 28,000 per square inch vs. 23,000 for steel.
